Oracle has announced a commitment to invest over USD 1 billion in Spain within the next decade. This initiative aims to meet growing demands for AI and cloud computing services.

As part of this plan, Oracle will establish a third cloud region in Madrid. This new infrastructure will support customers transitioning essential workloads from their own data centers to Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure.

In addition, the investment will assist financial services and industrial sectors in complying with regulations such as the European Union’s Digital Operational Resilience Act and European Outsourcing Guidelines.

Oracle's expansion in Spain mirrors a broader trend whereby major tech firms are increasingly investing in cloud infrastructure throughout Europe. This move comes amid intense competition from leading cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, all of whom have been aggressively expanding their presence across the continent.

Notably, Spain’s artificial intelligence market is projected to reach a size of USD 2.77 billion by the end of 2024. With an expected annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.46% from 2024 to 2030, the market volume is anticipated to expand to USD 12.45 billion by 2030.

Oracle’s investment thus aligns with the growing demand for AI and cloud computing services.
