A fresh deal struck between Telefónica and Google Cloud aims to hasten Telefónica's embrace of cloud technology and advancements in AI.

This arrangement entails broadening the array of Google Cloud services provided by Telefónica Tech, the company's business-to-business (B2B) division. Furthermore, Telefónica will integrate cloud solutions within its internal operations. Additionally, the collaboration extends to joint efforts in AI development and other related areas.

Telefónica's focus on enhancing its internal operations involves efforts to reduce application deployment time and refine infrastructure efficiency. Extending the partnership with Google for another three years, the companies aim to deepen their strategic collaboration. Alongside advancements in AI and data services, Google Cloud's solutions will facilitate hosting network functions using a telco-cloud approach. This approach promises to enhance network operations through automation, thereby bolstering efficiency.

Recently, Telefónica proudly announced its attainment of five specializations within Google Cloud: Workspace for Enterprise, Infrastructure, Application Development, Data Analytics, and Cloud Migration. Furthermore, it has secured Google Cloud's Managed Service Provider status.

The operator is set to delve into "innovation projects" alongside Google Cloud, spanning various domains including AI, GenAI, MLOps, accelerated computing infrastructure for AI, Web3, blockchain, quantum, and edge computing.

Meanwhile, Google Cloud is collaborating with Wayra, Telefónica's corporate venture capital arm, to provide startups with technology that helps them innovate in product development, optimize costs, and expand their markets.
