4iG Space and Defence Technologies (4iG S&D) has taken a significant step in propelling Hungary’s space sector forward, announcing a groundbreaking contract with global satellite leader, CPI Vertex Antennentechnik GmbH.
The deal will enhance the HUSAT satellite program, underscoring Hungary’s growing ambitions in space exploration and technology.

Enhancing Hungary’s Satellite Capabilities
The contract, valued in the millions, will see CPI Vertex Antennentechnik supply and install eight advanced parabolic antennas ranging from 9 to 11.5 meters in diameter. These antennas are vital components for the HUSAT program’s ground infrastructure, supporting two major projects: the HUGEO geostationary telecommunication satellite and the HULEO Earth observation satellite constellation.
CPI Vertex Antennentechnik will also provide state-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) equipment to support the antennas and ensure smooth operation. The installation process will occur across two Hungarian locations, solidifying the country’s role as a hub for satellite technology in Central and Eastern Europe.

The HUSAT Program: A Game-Changer for Hungary
The HUSAT program represents the largest satellite initiative in Hungary’s history. By 2032, the program aims to launch one geostationary satellite and a constellation of eight low Earth orbit (LEO), very high-resolution (VHR) Earth observation satellites. These satellites will enhance Hungary’s global communications capacity, environmental monitoring, and national security. Plans include six electro-optical satellites (HUEOP) and two synthetic aperture radar satellites (HUSAR).
